My name is Verdell Hamer. I am a Army Veteran with 15 years
of military service. Upon leaving the military, I was hired
to work as (PTF) Part-Time Flexible Employee of the U. S.
Postal Service. During my first year of work in 1995, I was
injured on the job. This injury was reported and medical treatment
was received. Even so, the injury continued to deteriorate
to the point that I developed RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy).
The claim was accepted by OWCP and then later denied. For
five years, I have sent in requests for reconsideration, even
after numerous surgeries and doctor's reports that supported
my on the job injury. OWCP continued to find reasons deny
my claim. During these years residing in Tennessee, I could
not find one lawyer to handle my case. I was told by so many
that "I was in the right and had a good case, but Federal
cases are difficult and so I don't do them." The stress
of an injury caused handicap and daily pain, surgical procedures
and financial problems continued to multiply to the point
of desperation. Finally, in 2001 a doctor that my husband
works with referred me to a lawyer who in turn referred me
to Attorney Paul H Felser a lot to go through to find help;
but thank God we did. The legal wording and requests by the
OWCP is confusing enough but not knowing the proper channels
for appeals and what laws are there to help you is horrible,
along with the obvious medical and physicals problems. Attorney
Felser has helped me to continue in my efforts to receive
the help rightfully owed by OWCP. Since it is my belief that
you need an advocate to handle these matters, I am authorizing
Attorney Felser at his discretion to post any facts about
my case on the Internet in the hopes that it will be of assistance
to others in similar circumstances.
Sincerely,
Verdell E. Hamer
